In mathematics we aim to stimulate pupils' curiosity, interest and enjoyment in the subject, allowing them to become familiar with the concepts, principles and vocabulary which lie at the heart of this area of the curriculum. From this we would look to equip children with an understanding of mathematics in its widest context and to see how it relates to themselves outside of school.
In lessons we encourage pupils to develop personal qualities such as politeness, perseverance, initiative, empathy, self-confidence and independence. Group work and investigations are a vital part of what we do.
Ultimately we seek to ensure that all pupils have equal access to mathematics and to experience success in their work. From their success will come a love of the subject which will stay with them throughout their lives.
