Match Reports - Week 11

First XI Football

1st Football v Duke of Kent

The 1sts put in an excellent performance away at the Duke of Kent school on Wednesday.  In tricky, wet conditions the boys dominated the first half but were unable to break down a good Duke defence.  Perhaps inevitably the home team broke away and took their only chance of the half to lead at the midway point.  The second half was a much closer affair with the Duke of Kent creating more chances of their own.  The more we pressed for the equaliser, the more likely it seemed that we might be caught on the break but, ultimately, neither side were able to change the score and the boys' excellent performance went unrewarded.  Having seen them play early in the term, I am staggered at how much progress they have made.  They are now a really good side!

Colts Football v Windlesham

For the first five minutes it was a 50/50 game, but then they scored, we were 1-0 down. We responded well and after a few good shots by Richard Hoyle he managed to score, 1-1. In the second half they scored after 5 minutes, 2-1 to them. We came back and Harry Bartley scored, smashing the ball past the keeper to level the scores. After lots of hard work, Max Djuric went through about four players with only the keeper to beat and he scored his first goal of the season. Final score 3-2 to Tavistock, great end to the season. My man of the match goes to Max for scoring the winner and playing well in defence. (Words by Cameron Crocker)

Under 9 'A' Football v Windlesham

In our last match of the term we lost in a disappointing 4-0 battle. We played a good game but Windlesham's great defending and attacking meant we were 2-0 down at half time. Charles managed to tackle well on many occasions but unfortunately we were unable to score as their goal keeper was quick and on the ball. Chris attacked well as usual. Another two goals by the opposition in the second half meant there was no coming back for us. The team marked and passed the ball well but it was not enough to see us through. Better luck next season. (Words by Darius Dosieah)

Under 9 'B' Football v Windlesham

Windlesham started off very well and scored a goal quite early on. We fought back and James Scott scored his first goal for the school with a volley from Max Lanning's corner to get us back into the match. Windlesham made it 2-1 a little later before Harry Rienecker-Found scored a cracking goal to level the match. In the second half I had to make some good saves in goal including several one-on-ones which I saved well. We also came close to scoring ourselves with some great work from Harry and James. The final score was 2-2, well played Tavi. Man of the match was hard to choose but all the team thought Harry and I played equally well. (Words by Edward Saunders)

1st Netball v Skippers Hill and Mead

We started with the ball and moved the ball down to the opposition end. We passed it to Jessica Robinson and she managed to score. It was getting near the end of the first half when it started raining so we all stopped and went inside. In the second half Mead got the ball and scored making the final score 1-1. In the second game against Skippers Hill they were very strong and scored two goals. We tried very hard but could not score. The final score was 2-0 to Skippers. (Words by Natasha MacMillan)

Under 9 Hockey Festival @ Ardingly

First we did team challenges, speed dribbling, keepy-ups and fastest scorer. Laura won the fastest scorer and speed dribble and Jasmin won the keepy-ups. Despite the rain we won our first match against Ardingly 'C' team 3-0. The second match against Copthorne was closer but we still managed to win 1-0. Well done Tavi. (Words by Sophie White)

Under 8 Netball v Handcross Park & Skippers Hill

The team played two matches and played extremely well in both. In the first match against Handrcoss Park the team won 2-0 and in the second match the girls beat Skippers Hill 1-0. Well done team, an excellent set of results.
