1st Netball v Great Walstead

The team played well but struggled against a stronger Great Walstead team. We managed to score eight goals in the match but that was not enough to win the game. Better luck next time. (Words by Natasha MacMillan)

Under 8/9 Tag Rugby v Great Walstead

In their first ever rugby match the team demonstrated that they have the potential to become a good side. They unfortunately lost the game, better luck next time. Many thanks to Mr Collin in his first outing as a coach for the school.

Under 9 Rugby v Great Walstead

Tavistock and Summerhill

With frozen limbs and chattering teeth the order of the day, the under 9's played against the very motivated and speedy Great Walstead team. The match was a bit of a scrappy affair with none of the flowing rugby that the team is capable of. The second half saw much improvement in possession and better team work. Walstead clearly have some promising players and a very direct approach. We duly lost heavily at 35-0 in spite of some excellent play from Christopher Brooks, Luc Horwood and Cameron Young. All brilliantly captained by myself! It seems like the recent snow has deprived us somewhat of training sessions, fingers crossed for good weather. Thanks to Mr McManus for refereeing. Tavistock and Summerhill

Colts 'B' v Great Walstead

We lost the toss and played uphill, with Walstead kicking off. They scored three tries in the first half but missed the conversion. In the second half Tom Burnell almost scored a try but went out of touch before the line. They scored another three tries and kicked the conversions. The end score was 34-0 to Walstead. Unlucky Tavi, better luck next time. (Words by Thomas Collings)

Colts 'A' v Great Walstead

In the first half we started well and Josh Curling ran down the field to score a try. Unfortunately Walstead then scored straight after. Josh then scored again making it 10-7. Walstead battled back and managed to score again to make it 10-14, and then followed that with two more tries. Josh managed to score his third try of the game with a powerful run. At the end of the match we were close to adding another try, but the ball was turned over and they ran the length of the pitch to score and make the end score 33-17 to Walstead. 1st IX Rugby v Great Walstead A & B IX

The 1sts

We started off against the A's. They won the toss and chose to kick off. The ball came straight into Daniel's arms and he paced up the pitch but unfortunately got tackled. They managed to rip the ball off then ran the length of the pitch to score, but they missed the conversion. We did not score in the match and they had big, powerful players who scored several more tries. In the second game we played better and put some tackles in and managed to score two tries and the conversions. Henry Smethurst did partiuclarly well scoring both. However, they scored three tries and no conversions making the final score 15-14 to them. Man of the match goes to Henry for his tries, and to Daniel in the first game for his brilliant catching. Well played, better luck next week. (Words by James Galvanoni-Hawkes)
