MATCH REPORTS - WEEK 6

Under 9's Tag Rugby v Fonthill

Girls Tag Rugby

Girls Tag Rugby

They won the toss and chose to start. We tagged them quickly and got the ball. I ran down the pitch and scored. Phoebe started as sub and swapped with Georgie. Fonthill passed and then we got the ball and Laura scored. They passed well, but we tagged them. They managed to score making the score 2-1 to us. Sophie then scored, followed by a try from Fonthill then one from me. At half time the score was 4-3 to us. At the start of the second half Sophie ran the length of the pitch to score an amazing try. Then Lily scored, luckily she was able to evade the defenders. The final score was 8-5. We had a yummy match tea. I couldn't decide on a player of the match so I chose everyone. Well played Tavi, a great game. (Words by Tilly Robson)

1st Netball v Cumnor House

We decided on an early start as Cumnor arrived early and the warm ups were proving understandably tame due to the pupils freezing hands hardly able to catch the ball! They had asked us not to field tall girls as their B team had been defeated by big numbers the previous weak and were suffering from low morale. Even though this was billed as a 1st's game, the gracious year 8 girls were therefore peripheralised to the sidelines for most of the match and Holly and Hannah from year 5 stepped up to the plate. The girls worked consistently hard but the goals kept evading us and by the end of the each quarter we trailed by 4 to 5 goals. It was thus time to bring in our yr 8 girls and in the final few minutes the extra needed goals were scored. The game had started to flow much better toward the final stages and each member of the team played enthusiastically, with a worthy result of victory for us at 12-10.

Under 8's Netball v Cumnor House

The team played an impressive match, showing their strengths in dodging and marking. By half time they were 6 - 1 up, with some accurate shooting from Effie King. Close marking and defending kept the score lower in the second half but Tavistock still came out victorious! Well played! Final score 9-3 to Tavi.

1st Rugby v Skippers Hill

After a fantastic victory last week the team was confident going into this fixture. However, the team took a while to get into the game and conceded several early tries. The opposition had several players who would not have looked out of place in a men's team and this proved to be the deciding factor. In the second half the team began to play much better and pulled the score back to within ten points. Congratulations to Daniel Brooks for scoring his first try for the school. The final score was 32-24 to Skippers Hill.
