MATCH REPORTS - WEEK 5
Under 9's Rugby v Brambletye
Despite an early try for Brambletye, Tavistock quickly gained a strong position in the first half with some excellent play. Brambletye continued to put us under pressure, but the defensive play from the whole team was fantastic and we worked well as a unit to achieve some great saves. James Scott managed to break the Brambletye line twice to score two tries. Continuing to battle through the game, always making ground with the ball, I made two further tries. William Buchanan scored his maiden try at the end of the match bringing the score to a victorious 25-20. A greatly improved team effort - congratulations to all players. Thank you to Mr Stephenson and all the parents that offered their support.
Colts 'A' Rugby v Brambletye
We didn't start well with an early try from Brambletye. We seemed to get back into it and with help from the forwards Josh managed to score a sneaky try. Unfortunately we missed the conversion. After four minutes Brambletye scored again but missed the conversion. Josh managed to go over again to score, this time with help from the back line. Despite an excellent tackle from Josh King he could not prevent the powerful runner from scoring. In the second half they scored a further two tries. Although we lost we knew we had played well as a team. Better luck next time. (Words by Jonathan Silverman)
Colts 'B' Rugby v Brambletye
Tavistock was first to kick off. We started well with some good tackling and Matthew broke through and scored a try. Then straight after they equalised. After some superb dodging, Montague scored for Tavistock but then they levelled again. As we approached half time some excellent play allowed Richard to score, putting Tavistock in the lead. In the second half, we broke through their defence and got an early try thanks to Montague. Then Brambletye dodged their way through our defence twice to score. Then Tom Collings ran the length of the pitch only to be tackled. We regained the ball and I ran past their defence and scored. Shortly after I managed to get another. A minute before the end they scored a consolation but it was too late. The final score was 30-25 to Tavistock. Well done to the team. (Words by Tom Burnell)
1st IX Rugby v Brambletye
We started the game with them kicking to us. Daniel caught the ball passed to William, but he had it ripped from him and they ran the length of the pitch to score and successfully converted the try. Brambletye conceded a penalty about thirty yards from the try line and I kicked over, hitting the post on the way over. They managed to score another try shortly after making the score at half time 12-3 to them. In the second half Henry ran up the pitch and ploughed his way through to score. I was successful with the conversion. From the kick off Daniel ran back at them but was held up just short of the line. Freddie ripped the ball and passed to Henry who scored another. Freddie was able to get a deserved try after his hard work which was followed by Brambletye scoring. Oliver Moors rounded off a good display for the team, with an excellent solo effort, capped off with a try. Final score was 27-17 to Tavi. Man of the match was Oliver for his tackling and try. Well done. (Words by James Galvanoni-Hawkes)
Under 8/9's Tag Rugby v Brambletye
They started the match. Ethan tackled, we got the ball to Harry and he was very close to a try. Brambletye got possession and ran the length of the pitch and scored. We had the ball a lot in this match and was a big improvement on the last game. At half time the score was 6-2 to Brambletye. Alex Widdowson passed to Harry, who ran up the pitch and scored. They quickly scored another. Thankfully Max Lanning scored two tries in the second half. When the whistle blew, the final score was 10-5 to Brambletye. Better luck next time Tavi. (Words by Alex Dench)
1st Netball v Hurstpierpoint
In the first quarter we won the toss and played really well scoring a few goals. In the second quarter they came back strongly scoring several goals. In the third quarter we switched the team around and played exceptionally well. The final score was 13-14 to them. Better luck next time. (Words by Natasha MacMillan)
Under 8's Netball v Ardingly and Hustpierpoint
Tavistock's first match was against Hurst. They were a very strong team and we lost 4 - 0. The second match against Ardingly was much closer and we were unlucky to lose 2 -1. Players of the match were Amy Holness and Lucy Jurkowski for some great defending in the 'D'.
