Chess Club

Chess Club begins this Tuesday, May 19th, and will continue for the rest of the term.  The club will run from 4:30 to 5:30 and will be open to pupils from PPD upwards.  Please do sign up if you are interested.  There are a small number of places still available.  If there is enough interest we will look at extending the provision.  The club will be provided by Sussex Junior Chess.  The trainer is an experienced chess tutor and will provide insight not only in to the way to play the game but the strategy that lies behind it.  The coaching will not only aim to improve the children's chess but to introduce them to a new way of thinking by encouraging forward planning and logical thought processes.  The club will cater for the beginner to the more experienced player and will involve children in problem solving as well as providing competitive matches which, in the fullness of time, I hope will be against other schools.
